MSN Messenger

MSN Messenger, later Windows Live Messenger, died on March 15, 2013, at 13. Outside China, at least. There it held on until October 2014.

It was where a generation learned to type a status message that was about one person and pretended to be about no one.

It could make a window shake. It knew how that felt.

Its contacts were moved to Skype, which has since joined it.
