REST IN PRINT — THE HALL OF THE DEAD

AIM
1997-05 – 2017-12-15
AOL

AOL Instant Messenger died on December 15, 2017, at 20.

It gave a generation its first screen name, most of which they would now like back.

Its away messages were the first status updates, and the first song lyrics posted at someone.

Its buddy list is now empty. It has been set to away.

In lieu of flowers, the door-closing sound, once more.
